Top Tale: The O.G. Volume 1 gamifies the act of storytelling in a way that helps you get to know your fellow human. This family-friendly card game is helping humans connect in a fun and engaging way. Whether you play Top Tale in a family setting, at work, or with complete strangers at a bar, all of the players will get to know each other on a deeper level, and often build respect for each other.

Younger kids enjoy having everyone’s attention while telling their stories, and when older players tell their stories, kids typically listen patiently. The game keeps players of all ages engaged. For many, the game can even be therapeutic.

How to Play Top Tale: The O.G. Volume 1

Draw a Card and Read It Aloud

The player with the most recently past birthday draws the first topic card. That player then reads the Topic and Caption aloud. The captions are just meant to be silly and spark ideas for responses.

All Players Respond To The Topic

Starting with the person that drew the topic card, then going clockwise, all players respond to the topic. Players can pass if they don’t have a good response or feel uncomfortable responding, but they forfeit the chance to win the round.

Players All Vote on the Top Tale

Once all players have a chance to respond to the topic, everyone votes for the top tale. This can be done by having someone count to three and everyone then points at the player they thought had the best tale. You cannot vote for yourself.

The Winner Keeps the Card as a Point

The person with the most votes wins the round and keeps the card as a point. If there’s a tie, then the players in the tie draw another card, respond to the card, and everyone votes for the tie breaker. The winner of a tie keeps both cards. Play continues until you hit a certain number of cards, or you just call it quits.
